What the Awakening Your Light Body Course Means to Me
Or, what the light body is and what it is not in my experience.
Several years ago I wrote a blog post titled “Awakening Your Light Body and Other Energy Systems.” In that post I described the light body as I experience it. To me, the light body is essentially a form of meditation and a nuanced conscious experience of one’s own awareness, but I also compared and contrasted the light body and Kundalini. In short, I made several main points that I still endorse:
- For me, the Awakening Your Light Body course opened new ways to experience being one with more of my higher consciousness and more of the light of my soul.
-
Based on my experience, the Light Body is not like Kundalini and doesn’t cross paths with Kundalini. Kundalini isn’t taught in the Light Body course.
- The light body taps into energy that is closer in dimension to the soul than the chakras and other energy systems that have been part of humankind’s awareness for millennia. The light body is also new to humanity’s awareness.
- The light body is not Kundalini. It doesn’t get awakened in a way that even resembles the way Kundalini gets awakened. The light body is not yoga. The light body is not the chakras or any other energy system even though the light body can energize other energy systems. The light body as taught by DaBen and Orin is not any of these. It is specific only to the Awakening Your Light Body courses.
For me, these distinctions still leave questions unanswered, such as:
- Is the light body incompatible with my spiritual or religious beliefs?
-
Does the light body take the place of my connection to Spirit, God, Goddess, the Holy Spirit, the higher self, ancestors, angels, or enlightened masters?
-
How can the light body be helpful to people who may have spiritual beliefs that may contradict the idea of awakening the light body as a negative influence, or be helpful to people who have otherwise contradictory spiritual beliefs?
These are the questions I will examine in this post.
What is the Light Body in this context?
To me, the light body as taught by DaBen and Orin is an experience and a set of skills. If you believe in God, and particularly if you believe in God from a Christian perspective, I would clarify that the light body is not God and it does not lead to God specifically. Think about that for a minute. In and of itself, it is not God and it does not lead to God. That is too much of an expectation to place on the light body. In this post I will compare the light body to a hot air balloon. A hot air balloon can be both a vehicle and a means of having amazing experiences. A hot air balloon is not God and does not lead to God either. But few if any believers in a god (that I am aware) would ever expect a hot air balloon to take the place of God or the Holy Spirit, or expect a hot air balloon to lead to God. This may seem obvious, but I say this for the sake of clarification of intent. For the purposes of this post, I refer to God, Goddess, Spirit, or the Divine as God.

In addition to a hot air balloon, I would compare the light body to a lyre, articulating tones and frequencies that obey the commands of the strummer and carry the qualities of the frequencies it transmits. Because there is no prerequisite belief system for the Awakening Your Light Body course, I would have no way to assume that all strummers are doing whatever may be the work or the will of God according to my belief system. But I will say that the original intentions of the light body are purely about love and light.

What is the purpose?
The light body serves the purpose it is given by the person who awakens it, but remember that the energy a person puts out comes back to them tenfold. As Duane Packer said, “Experience is meaningful.” I cannot reiterate enough that the light body is intended to be about love and light.
The light body can work beautifully with other energy tools, modalities, and paradigms. The light body also accelerates growth. Although the light body courses teach skills for being in the flow, the level of one’s own energy is amplified by the light body regardless of beliefs or lived experience. The light body does not produce any reward for “spiritual bypasses” so to speak. In fact, the experience of the light body can allow some hiding behind spiritual bypasses to avoid the personal issues that the light body brings up. This only creates a delay in personal growth.
Maybe the light body was the answer to someone’s prayer. Maybe it is the result of carefully focused intentions. In my experience the light body is not inherently imbued with the Holy Spirit, but a person can set the intention to do so. My belief and experience are that the light body is not the Holy Spirit, it is not a means to God, and it does not replace intercession. To me it is a vehicle to explore and build consciousness as well as connect with others on a similar path. Although one can have blissful experiences with it, if one believes in heaven, one can no sooner get there via the light body than via a hot air balloon.
A hot air balloon can give a person new perspectives and a hot air balloon can provide experiences of bliss, but a hot air balloon has to be navigated carefully. It is not intended to be operated by an untrained hot air balloon navigator, and I don’t know about you, but I never heard of anyone using a hot air balloon to try to enter the gates of heaven or reach a state of permanent enlightenment. A hot air balloon ride can, however, make for some very meaningful experiences when handled responsibly.
On that note, the light body does not replace personal responsibility. If anything, it heightens personal responsibility.
“Experience is meaningful.”

Can it interfere with or usurp my connection to God or the Divine?
It is my experience and my belief that God or the Divine is met through going into the heart and finding love for God, then inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit into the heart. That experience changes the heart. That experience lifts the heart and the mind in both my beliefs and my lived experience. The practice of cultivating a garden of a loving heart and an open, joyful mind are important for anyone contributing to lifting the experience of humankind. I find that this is especially important to practice for any student of Awakening Your Light Body since the light body will bring issues to the surface and amplify the experience a person is creating for themselves. I discovered the Awakening Your Light Body course during a period of spiritual searching in my life, and to me, the light body does not usurp my connection to God or the Divine. I never looked for the light body to replace that transformative connection. To me, the cultivation of my relationship to God or the Holy Spirit in my heart is essential whether I were to awaken my light body or not.
Please note that the Awakening Your Light Body course is studied by people who have many different belief systems, including various religious faiths, Indigenous spiritual beliefs and practices, Pagan and earth-based religions and beliefs, non-religious spiritual beliefs and practices, secular humanism, and no spiritual faith. For some, Awakening Your Light Body offers a unique and authentic spiritual path in and of itself. My experience is that Awakening Your Light Body is studied by people from all walks of life, most if not all spiritual paths, and a wide array of professional backgrounds ranging from various scientific professions to healthcare, psychotherapy, law, entrepreneurship, corporate business, spiritual practitioners, and other fields. In my experience, Awakening Your Light Body students worldwide are very diverse. Every light body student I have ever met is highly intelligent. My beliefs and my faith are not the same as everyone else’s. But we can all have the light body in common and experience great bliss in our collective resonance.
